THIS JUST IN!!!

Time to celebrate! Fourteen out of eighteen students have met their AR goal this quarter! This is awesome! Let's go for 100% next quarter!!

We're All About READING..READING..READING

Our class is UNITED TO READ! We have joined with the Scholastic Book Company to encourage reading! Read what Scholastic has to say about this project:

This Fall, students in classrooms across the country are once again being challenged to read to help kids in need.

This school year, the Classrooms Care theme is “United States of Reading.” With the help of teachers nationwide, Scholastic Book Clubs is challenging students to read 10 books per student per classroom triggering a donation of one million books to kids in need from Scholastic Book Clubs. To get the books to children who need them, ClassroomsCare partners with major charities that play a key role. Reach Out and Read® provides books to the nation’s youngest children via pediatricians who work at clinics and in hospitals, and helps parents make books part of their children’s daily lives. Save the Children® reaches children in rural areas who may not have the resources or access to books they need. And this year ClassroomsCare is adding a new partner, The Pajama Program, a non-profit that helps distribute books and pajamas to children in more than thirty states, from preschool through teen. With each program Scholastic carefully selects books that are age-appropriate and engaging for the recipient.

Quarter Ending Soon!

The end of the quarter is fast approaching, October 15th. Keep reading and working toward those A.R. goals. Several students have already met their goal. Ask your child if they are there yet. Great rewards come with meeting these goals. Better readers and more successful students is one of the best rewards a child can earn.

Check out the video of our trip today to the Black Powder Rendezvous. We are studying about early American history so the trip was very informative. The kids especially enjoyed the Candy Canon at the end of the presentations.
